About the Role
The Financial Control Team Lead provides leadership to a Financial Controls team, overseeing day‑to‑day operations, workload distribution and accountability for meeting or exceeding team SLAs and KPIs. The role also ensures team members are engaged, supported and developed through performance reviews, skill development and process improvement initiatives. Key responsibilities include managing financial control activities such as journal posting, intercompany reconciliation, period‑end processing and reporting, while prioritising tasks and balancing workload across the team. The lead recognises unusual transactions or trends, communicates findings to management, drives performance improvement through data‑driven insights, and supports projects that redesign, standardise and optimise processes. Stakeholder management involves providing clear updates, coordinating cross‑departmental issues and handling escalations, whilst maintaining robust risk, compliance and control frameworks. Team management focuses on mentoring, providing feedback and cultivating a high‑performing environment. • Lead a Financial Controls team, ensuring service delivery and achievement of SLAs/KPIs. • Oversee financial control activities: journal posting, intercompany reconciliation, period‑end reporting. • Prioritise and balance workload while identifying unusual transactions and advising stakeholders. • Drive performance improvement using data‑driven insights and manage process redesign, standardisation, and optimisation projects. • Provide clear, regular updates to internal and external stakeholders and coordinate cross‑departmental issue resolution. • Manage escalations, coach team members, investigate root causes and implement controls to prevent recurrence. • Maintain bank account signatories, enforce risk control matrix and governance of financial controls. • Mentor and develop team members, delivering timely performance feedback.

What You Bring
Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting and a professional qualification such as CA, CPA or ACCA. A minimum of ten years’ experience in a Global Business Services or BPO environment with end‑to‑end financial control expertise, knowledge of IFRS and UK GAAP, and strong SAP ERP skills is required. Experience in resource planning, workflow management, KPI‑driven team leadership, stakeholder management and developing people is also essential. • Require bachelor’s degree in finance/accounting; CA/CPA/ACCA qualification; 10+ years GBS/BPO experience with end‑to‑end financial control and IFRS/UK GAAP knowledge. • Proven experience in resource planning, workflow management, KPI‑driven team leadership, stakeholder management and SAP ERP.
