About the Role
In this role you will be responsible for scheduled, preventative and corrective maintenance of refrigeration, air‑conditioning and HVAC systems, handle refrigerants in line with ARCTick licensing requirements, respond promptly to internal and external stakeholders, and collaborate with other trades and subcontractors to support operational delivery. Downer plans, creates and sustains essential public services across Australia and New Zealand, managing critical infrastructure from hospitals to data centres and defence partnerships. The company is sovereign‑owned, ASX‑listed, and has been recognised as Estate & Infrastructure Business of the Year (2025) and Prime Contractor of the Year (2024 & 2025). • Perform scheduled, preventative, and corrective maintenance on refrigeration, air‑conditioning and HVAC systems • Handle refrigerants in accordance with ARCTick licensing obligations • Provide professional, timely responses to internal and external stakeholders • Collaborate with other trades and subcontractors to support operational delivery • Utilize the Employee Assistance Program for personal and family support

What You Bring
The position will commence in February 2026 and welcomes candidates from all backgrounds, whether you bring Defence experience, industry knowledge, or transferable skills from other sectors. Successful candidates will hold a Certificate III in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, relevant NSW licences, and possess post‑trade experience in HVAC maintenance, fault diagnosis and repair, together with a current open driver’s licence and the ability to obtain a Defence Security Clearance (Australian citizenship required). • Hold a Certificate III in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning • Hold an ARCTick Refrigerant Handling licence (desirable) and a NSW Refrigeration and Air Conditioning licence • Possess post‑trade experience in refrigeration, air‑conditioning and HVAC maintenance • Demonstrate expertise in fault diagnosis and repair of refrigeration and HVAC systems • Maintain a current open driver’s licence • Ability to obtain and maintain a Defence Security Clearance (Australian citizenship mandatory)
