About the Role
Responsibilities include ensuring technical excellence, delivering projects on time and within budget, and driving business development and strategic planning to grow the aviation engineering practice across the region. • Develop and market Shrewsberry services in Nashville and other regions. • Identify and pursue additional business opportunities with key clients. • Manage client relationships and participate in proposal presentations. • Track business development opportunities using CRM and meet with clients to gather project information. • Collaborate with technical staff to create proposal sections and scopes of work. • Oversee financial performance and daily operations of assigned engineering projects, meeting performance metrics. • Implement growth and sales plans and develop departmental strategic plans. • Deliver quality aviation projects on time, within budget, and to client satisfaction. • Conduct job hazard analyses and develop site‑specific health and safety plans with the Safety Officer. • Mentor junior engineers and ensure effective staff utilization. • Coordinate and review work across divisions, fostering a collaborative culture. • Utilize project management software for invoicing, expense reporting, and time tracking. • Serve as project expert, managing multiple projects concurrently and providing technical direction. • Define scope, schedule, man‑hour requirements, and budgets; manage scope changes and mitigate risk. • Perform airfield civil engineering design from preliminary to final stages, manage bidding and construction services. • Prepare studies, construction documents, drawings, maps, reports, specifications, and cost estimates. • Conduct senior QC reviews, evaluate test reports, and visit job sites to monitor progress. • Communicate with clients on project issues, lead technical decision‑making, and address schedule/cost variances.

What You Bring
The Transportation/Aviation Project Manager – Aviation Engineering provides intermediate-level project management oversight on airport and transportation design projects, building strong relationships with Department of Transportation and airport authorities, state agencies, counties, municipalities, and consulting firms. The role requires knowledge of DOT/FAA criteria and design standards and the ability to obtain Professional Engineer licensure in multiple states. Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (Master’s preferred) and have at least ten years of airside and landside design experience, demonstrated expertise in applying FAA regulations, managing projects, interacting with clients, and mentoring staff, as well as experience in business development and proposal writing. The position demands strong leadership, communication, organizational, and client‑management skills, the ability to provide practical technical solutions, and a Professional Engineer license in Tennessee (or the ability to obtain it within three months) along with a valid driver’s license and eligibility for additional state licensure. • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (Master’s preferred) with 10 years of airside/landside design experience. • Proven expertise applying FAA criteria, managing projects, interacting with clients, and developing staff. • Demonstrated business development experience, including writing proposals, scopes, and budgets. • Strong leadership, communication, organization, and client/team management skills. • Professional Engineer license in Tennessee (or ability to obtain within 3 months) and ability to obtain additional state licenses; valid driver’s license.
