About the Role

Drivers operate heavy‑duty trucks equipped with front, side or rear‑end lift attachments, transporting waste or recyclables to disposal, transfer or recycling facilities. Roles include Commercial Drivers who pick up container loads, Residential Drivers who collect household waste, and Roll‑off Drivers who handle large open‑top containers at customer sites. All drivers must navigate high‑traffic streets, alleyways, driveways and tight overhead environments, often performing skilled backing maneuvers. Every shift begins with pre‑trip and ends with post‑trip vehicle inspections documented on a DVIR. Drivers must follow WM Safety and Life‑Critical Rules, OSHA and DOT regulations, and report any unsafe conditions, incidents or service interruptions to the Operations Manager or Dispatch. Ongoing training, briefings and collaboration with management are required to improve route efficiency and address customer requests. At the end of the day drivers complete route documentation, check‑out procedures and assist teammates as needed. • Operate trucks following WM Safety, OSHA, DOT and all applicable laws. • Perform pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections and complete DVIR documentation. • Report unsafe conditions, incidents, accidents, property damage, and service interruptions to Operations Manager or Dispatch. • Attend scheduled training, briefings and meetings; collaborate with Operations Manager to improve route efficiency. • Communicate customer requests and ensure containers are emptied and sites left clean. • Follow assigned routes, complete end‑of‑day paperwork and assist fellow drivers as needed.

What You Bring

Candidates must have at least one year of recent experience operating a vehicle that requires a CDL or comparable military driving experience, be at least 18 years old, and be legally authorized to work in the United States. A Class A or Class B Commercial Driver’s License with an air‑brake endorsement is required; a high‑school diploma or GED is preferred. Additional qualifications are assessed during the hiring process. The role demands physical stamina, including the ability to stand, walk, lift, push, pull, crouch, reach, handle tools, sit, talk and hear for extended periods.
