About the Role

The full‑time role focuses on developing 3D models, 2D shop drawings, and bills of materials that guide the production of custom trucks within quoted labor hours while maintaining high quality standards. The engineer will ensure designs are practical, manage outsourced body design accuracy, and deliver complete documentation to production teams for successful builds and high customer satisfaction. Key responsibilities include creating detailed design documentation, conducting weight studies, collaborating with cross‑functional teams, updating drawings and BOMs with customer changes, and applying engineering principles to improve products and processes. The engineer will also manage engineering change notices, work with vendors, produce technical specifications, review documentation, and support production troubleshooting. • Create 3D models based on customer quotes, design requirements, and safety standards. • Prepare bills of materials for all installation components. • Develop detailed 2D shop drawings that guide production. • Conduct weight studies to verify chassis capacity and component limits. • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to resolve design ambiguities and obtain customer approval. • Update drawings, BOMs, and documentation with customer and as‑built changes. • Apply engineering principles to enhance existing products and processes. • Design and update parts and assemblies with minimal direction. • Generate and process Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) for documentation control. • Coordinate with vendors to verify purchased components meet specifications. • Create technical specifications to support new and existing products. • Review and improve technical documentation for accuracy. • Support production teams by troubleshooting design‑related issues.

What You Bring

Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field and be proficient in SolidWorks or Onshape. Required skills include technical writing, blueprint reading, independent problem‑solving, knowledge of lean principles, and familiarity with electrical, hydraulic, PLM, MRP, welding, bolted joints, load calculations, and FEA. Preferred qualifications include internship or professional experience with custom mobile equipment and strong knowledge of controller applications and new product development cycles.
