About the Role
Within HDR’s Transportation Business Group, teams design resilient highways, iconic bridges, transit systems, rail, aviation, ports, and marine infrastructure that support economic vitality, public safety, and sustainable, connected communities. By integrating planners, engineers, architects, economists, and specialists, the group tackles complex mobility challenges with innovation and a deep understanding of community needs. The Transportation Project Accountant 2 role provides financial and quality management support for transportation projects, handling budgeting, invoicing, contract compliance, document control, and quality assurance while mentoring junior staff and ensuring seamless collaboration with project managers. • Manage client invoicing, collections, and project budgeting autonomously. • Maintain contract documentation, fee and budget entry, and ensure compliance with contractual requirements. • Support project managers with initiation documents, contract performance data, and resolve financial issues. • Coordinate project accounting system, schedule meetings, and handle document control using Project Wise. • Mentor junior project accountants and QC/audit subconsultant invoices. • Track and renew project insurance certificates and assist in subconsultant prequalification. • Develop and monitor project-specific Quality Management Plans and oversee subconsultant deliverables. • Prepare client presentations, reports, agendas, and meeting minutes; follow up on action items. • Organize and format project documents, specifications, and correspondence.

What You Bring
• Exhibit professionalism with clients and complete tasks independently. • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; supervisory experience beneficial. • Required: Associate degree or equivalent experience; 5+ years (advanced degree may offset). • Familiarity with Earned Value Management. • Strong verbal and written communication skills. • Ability to prioritize, multitask, and collaborate in fast‑paced environment. • Self‑motivated, organized, detail‑oriented; able to handle confidential information. • Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Outlook).
