About the Role

The role involves serving as senior project manager for water and wastewater treatment plant projects, planning, executing, monitoring, controlling, and closing projects using earned value management principles. The manager will supervise multi‑discipline teams of engineers, technicians, GIS analysts, designers, CAD staff, and sub‑consultants, and coordinate work to ensure continuity, consistency, quality, and on‑time delivery. The position requires the ability to work independently, mentor junior staff, and maintain effective communication with clients, regulatory agencies, and project teams while participating in business development activities such as scope and fee preparation, proposal writing, and marketing. • Lead water and wastewater treatment plant projects using earned value management. • Supervise multi‑discipline teams including engineers, technicians, GIS analysts, designers, CAD staff, and sub‑consultants. • Coordinate work to ensure continuity, quality, and on‑time delivery. • Mentor junior staff and work independently. • Communicate effectively with clients, regulatory agencies, and project teams. • Participate in business development: scope definition, fee and proposal preparation, marketing.

What You Bring

Freese and Nichols is seeking a Senior Water/Wastewater Project Manager for water infrastructure engineering projects. Preferred office locations are Raleigh, Atlanta, or Duluth, with secondary options in Charlotte or Winston‑Salem, NC. Qualifications include 10+ years of experience in water/wastewater engineering and project management, a Bachelor’s degree in Civil and/or Environmental Engineering, and a North Carolina or Georgia Professional Engineer (PE) license. The candidate must demonstrate technical proficiency in hydraulics, treatment processes, and industry standards, possess strong leadership abilities, and exhibit excellent written and oral communication skills. A Master’s in Environmental and/or Civil Engineering is preferred. • Require 10+ years of water/wastewater engineering and project management experience. • Hold a B.S. in Civil or Environmental Engineering; PE license required (NC or GA). • Demonstrated expertise in hydraulics, treatment processes, and industry standards. • Strong leadership, written and oral communication skills. • Preferred: Master's degree in Environmental or Civil Engineering.
