About the Role

The Gas Skilled Laborer/Groundman supports the crew by assisting with the installation and repair of gas lines, ensuring all necessary materials are gathered and distributed on‑site. The role includes hand‑locating utilities, hand‑grading landscape areas, safely operating a range of equipment, and lifting heavy natural‑gas pipelines when needed. Additional duties are performed as required. • Assist crew with gas line installation and repair. • Gather and distribute daily job materials. • Hand locate existing utilities and hand grade landscape areas. • Safely operate equipment such as rubber‑tired backhoe, skid steer loader, directional drill, trencher, and asphalt paving machine. • Operate equipment to support ditch digging for gas mains. • Lift and position heavy natural‑gas pipelines as needed.

What You Bring

The position is field‑based and demands frequent bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting (up to 50 lb), standing, and twisting, often in extreme weather conditions. Employees must maintain clear vision at 20 feet or 20 inches, demonstrate precise hand‑eye coordination, and be able to distinguish colors. • High school diploma or equivalent. • Minimum 1 year of gas utility construction experience (preferred 2+ years). • Ability to lift/carry up to 50 lb and perform physically demanding tasks. • Good hand‑eye coordination, color identification, and vision for distance judgment.
