About the Role
As a Project Director you will manage large‑scale multidisciplinary teams on mission‑critical projects, conduct sales and business‑development activities, and ensure projects are delivered technically correct and on schedule. You will be responsible for the full lifecycle of data‑centre projects, overseeing engineering, construction, commissioning and operational phases. The position blends technical leadership with client partnership and commercial governance. • Lead full lifecycle delivery of large‑scale data centre projects (≈£100 M+). • Manage multidisciplinary engineering, construction, commissioning and operations teams. • Serve as senior client partner, resolve challenges and exceed expectations. • Drive programme excellence across scope, cost, quality, risk, safety and schedule. • Oversee contractor performance, procurement strategy and commercial governance. • Champion technical standards to ensure system resilience and availability. • Report to executives with transparent, proactive communication.

What You Bring
The ideal candidate has proven experience delivering major data‑centre projects across EMEA and deep knowledge of mission‑critical MEP, power, cooling and commissioning. Strong leadership skills are required to inspire diverse delivery teams and maintain exceptional stakeholder and client relationships. Commercial acumen, a track record of delivering on budget and programme, and a commitment to HDR’s employee‑owned culture are essential. • Hold a bachelor’s degree in Engineering. • Bring at least 10 years of experience designing and managing data‑centre or mission‑critical projects in a consultancy. • Demonstrate proven leadership, business development and strategic planning abilities. • Possess strong stakeholder and client relationship skills with commercial acumen. • Be proficient in MS Office and MS Project. • Pursue or hold Chartered status in the relevant engineering discipline. • Exhibit strong people‑management and team‑building capabilities.
