About the Role
The position requires daily interaction with staff, contractors, and site personnel, attending project meetings, and keeping supervisors informed of site conditions and testing needs. Responsibilities include scheduling, training and overseeing environmental technicians, setting up projects under senior supervision, and ensuring proper sample collection, preservation, and laboratory submission in accordance with regulations. The assistant will document observations, submit daily reports, and assist with groundwater, soil, boring, test pit layouts, remediation systems, and underground storage tank assessments. • Collaborate with staff on various projects and attend senior‑staff meetings. • Interface daily with contractors and site personnel. • Notify supervisors of changing site conditions and additional testing needs. • Schedule, train, and supervise environmental technicians. • Initiate and implement project set‑up under senior supervision. • Follow sample collection, preservation, and laboratory submission regulations. • Document field observations and submit daily reports. • Communicate site condition changes and adjust investigations as directed. • Assist with groundwater, soil, and media sampling investigations. • Perform boring and test pit layouts and assess site access. • Support remediation system installation, operation, and maintenance. • Aid in underground storage tank assessments.

Engineering Consulting Services (ECS) is looking for a highly motivated Environmental Assistant Staff Project Manager. The role focuses on field tasks assigned by senior staff, with responsibility growing as experience is gained. Work will be primarily field‑based, with limited office duties, and the ideal candidate demonstrates a positive customer‑service attitude and alignment with ECS core values. Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil, Environmental Engineering, Geology, or a related field; no prior experience is required. A valid driver’s license is necessary for any ECS‑related driving. Required abilities include basic knowledge of environmental principles, permitting processes, regulations, and test methods, as well as an interest in project management and business development, and the physical capability to lift 40 lb repeatedly and navigate uneven terrain. • Hold a BS or MS in Civil/Environmental Engineering, Geology, or related science. • Possess a valid driver’s license for company‑related travel. • Basic knowledge of environmental principles, permitting, regulations, and test methods. • Ability to lift 40 lb repeatedly and walk on uneven ground.
