About the Role
The Quality Assurance and Environment Technician ensures that untreated and treated wood, preservatives, and treating specifications meet industry, company, and customer quality standards through sample collection and analysis. The role also oversees environmental inspections, maintains regulatory documentation, and provides technical consultation and water‑treatment troubleshooting. • Collect wood samples as required. • Analyze samples and compare to standards for compliance. • Identify conforming and non‑conforming materials. • Send quality control samples to outside laboratories. • Work with third‑party inspectors as required. • Participate in environmental audits with treaters. • Collect and organize audit documentation with treaters. • Report non‑compliances to Plant Manager. • Abide by workplace health and safety standards.

What You Bring
Candidates must have at least a Grade 12 education, with post‑secondary study in Chemistry or Environmental Science, and two years of laboratory experience. Proficiency in spoken and written English, strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities, and the capacity to work independently or in a team are essential. Additional assets include knowledge of wood‑preservation standards, chemistry expertise, and willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions. • Grade 12 education required; post‑secondary study in Chemistry or Environmental Science preferred. • Minimum two years of laboratory experience. • Proficiency in spoken and written English. • Effective interpersonal and communication skills. • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills. • Ability to work independently and in team environments. • Good time management and attention to detail. • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. • Knowledge of wood preservation standards (asset). • Chemistry knowledge. • Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
