About the Role
The Operator – Heavy Equipment is responsible for safely operating heavy machinery at a recycling center, landfill, or transfer station to transfer, spread, cover, load, and compact waste or soil efficiently. The role requires adherence to safety standards and efficient execution of tasks. Key duties include performing pre‑ and post‑operation inspections, operating equipment such as forklifts, excavators, bulldozers and front‑end loaders, monitoring waste for prohibited materials, and ensuring equipment remains operational by cleaning tracks or wheels. The operator also performs minor servicing, documents equipment condition, completes required reports, keeps the shop clean, and follows all safety policies. • Perform pre‑ and post‑operation equipment inspections according to company policy. • Safely operate forklifts, excavators, bulldozers, front‑end loaders, and other heavy equipment. • Monitor waste streams for unacceptable materials and continuously assess equipment condition. • Clean tracks or wheels as needed to keep equipment operational. • Conduct minor equipment servicing and document issues; refer complex problems to Maintenance. • Complete Equipment Condition Reports and other required documentation. • Maintain a clean, serviced, and organized shop at the end of each shift. • Follow all safety policies and procedures at all times. • Provide professional, courteous, and cooperative customer service. • Manage time efficiently to complete responsibilities safely and promptly. • Adhere to company policies, work schedule, and safety standards without taking inappropriate risks.

The position requires at least two years of heavy‑equipment operation experience and one year working at OSHA‑regulated sites.
