About the Role

The Quantity Surveyor will work with the line manager to handle commercial administration, reporting and performance across a large project or several smaller schemes, ensuring contractual compliance and value optimisation. • Create and maintain a safe working environment. • Produce subcontract documentation and negotiate terms, prices, and programme. • Manage subcontract work packages, including interim assessments and change management. • Issue commercial notices to clients and subcontractors as required by contract. • Handle contract changes and submit Compensation Event Quotations promptly. • Prepare, submit and agree monthly applications to the client. • Liaise with operational and engineering staff to ensure accurate site records. • Generate detailed monthly reports and Cost Value Reconciliations. • Develop and maintain a detailed Cost Plan, forecasting expenditure and subcontractor liabilities using Oracle. • Interpret and evaluate expenditure reports from internal cost systems. • Attend weekly progress and risk reduction meetings with clients and subcontractors. • Apply ‘Doing the right thing’ principles to maximise value and profit, supporting estimating and bid teams with contractual expertise. • Maintain a valid CSCS card.

What You Bring

The ideal candidate has a solid understanding of standard forms of contract, strong IT skills (Excel, Word, CEMAR, Oracle), excellent stakeholder management and communication abilities, and a good grasp of construction processes and time management. Professional qualifications such as MCIOB or MRICS (or progression towards them) are desirable, together with a relevant degree or commercial experience on large or multiple schemes and a valid CSCS card. • Demonstrate strong knowledge of standard forms of contract. • Proficiency in Excel, Word, CEMAR and Oracle cost management systems. • Excellent stakeholder management and communication capabilities. • Solid understanding of construction processes and effective time/outcome management. • Hold a professional qualification such as MCIOB or MRICS, or be working towards full membership. • Possess a relevant degree and/or commercial experience on large or multiple schemes.
