Job Highlights
About the Role
Drivers at WM operate heavy‑duty trucks equipped with front, side, or rear‑end lift attachments to transport waste and recyclable containers to disposal, transfer, or recycling facilities. Depending on the line of business, drivers may handle commercial, residential, or roll‑off assignments, requiring skillful backing maneuvers in high‑traffic, congested roadways, driveways, alleyways, and lot environments. Each driver follows WM Safety and Life Critical Rules, OSHA, DOT, and all applicable local, state, and federal regulations while performing pre‑ and post‑trip vehicle inspections and documenting checks on a Driver Vehicle Inspection Report. Drivers communicate any unsafe conditions, service interruptions, or customer requests to the Operations Manager or Dispatch and ensure all receptacles are emptied and the site left clean. • Operate vehicles in compliance with WM safety policies, OSHA, DOT, and all legal requirements. • Conduct pre‑ and post‑trip inspections and complete Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports. • Report unsafe conditions, incidents, accidents, and property damage immediately to management. • Notify management of service interruptions, heavy receptacles, or potential safety hazards. • Communicate customer requests promptly to Operations Manager or Dispatch. • Dump all receptacles, leaving each site clean and free of debris. • Follow assigned routes, complete end‑of‑day documentation, and check‑out procedures. • Assist other drivers as directed to meet customer needs. • Perform physical tasks including standing, walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, crouching, reaching, handling, sitting, talking, and hearing. • Work for North America’s largest waste‑management and environmental‑solutions provider with a focus on sustainability. • Maintain safe and reliable operation of vehicles and equipment at all times.

What You Bring
Candidates must have at least one year of experience operating a CDL‑required vehicle or recent equivalent military driving experience, be 18 years or older, and possess legal work eligibility. Required licenses include a Class A or Class B Commercial Driver License with an air‑brake endorsement, while a high school diploma or GED is preferred. The role demands a range of physical activities such as standing, walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, crouching, reaching, handling, sitting, talking, and hearing, with reasonable accommodations available for individuals with disabilities. The position may require travel by air or access to federal property; candidates must possess a REAL ID or a TSA‑approved alternative, or be willing to obtain one.
