Secondary Design Engineer - Gas Insulated Switchgear
Design GIS secondary schematics and related documents for high‑voltage switchgear.
Job Highlights
About the Role
You will be responsible for delivering a wide range of schematics for high‑voltage gas‑insulated switchgear, including circuit breakers, disconnectors, earthing switches, current and voltage transformers, and related junction boxes. The role also involves preparing interlocking tables, mimic boards, communication architecture diagrams, and digital LCC drawings for digital substations, as well as performing cable‑sizing calculations and generating preliminary bills of material. • Prepare LCC schematics for high‑voltage GIS (≥66 kV) and related components such as circuit breakers, disconnectors, earthing switches, CTs and VTs. • Design junction boxes, interlocking tables, and busbar configuration schematics. • Respond to technical queries from customers during project execution. • Review and self‑validate documents before submission and generate preliminary BOMs. • Create mimic boards, communication architecture diagrams, and protection schematics for transformers, lines, and busbars. • Select Bay Control Units and basic protection IEDs. • Produce complete digital LCC drawings for digital substations, including NCITs, MUs, and SAM600 modules. • Design gas density monitoring panels using MSM. • Perform cable‑sizing calculations. • Ensure adherence to IEC, IEEE, ANSI standards, QA/QC policies, and Hitachi’s safety and integrity values.

What You Bring
The ideal candidate holds a B.E. or Diploma in Electrical & Electronics Engineering and has 2‑4 years of experience with protection and control systems for transmission, distribution, or generation. Proficiency with CAD tools is required, with familiarity with E3 being advantageous, and a solid understanding of IEC, IEEE, ANSI standards and basic GIS concepts is expected. Strong teamwork, communication, and professionalism are essential. • Hold a B.E. or Diploma in Electrical & Electronics Engineering with 2–4 years of relevant experience. • Possess strong CAD skills; experience with E3 is a plus. • Demonstrate good communication, teamwork, and professionalism.
