About the Role

The Senior Assessor applies building condition assessment processes and technical standards to conduct specialized asset assessments, achieving a 30‑50% reduction in site assessment time. This role also supports the Manager or Director in planning and overseeing end‑to‑end project delivery, ensuring projects of low to moderate complexity are completed within scope, budget, and requirements. Key responsibilities include performing building condition assessments, annual inspections, and other specialized evaluations, then documenting findings with asset assessment management software. The assessor identifies deficiencies, provides repair or replacement recommendations, prepares cost estimates for capital budgeting, and leads the scheduling and coordination of site activities. In project management support, the Senior Assessor serves as a “buddy” for new hires, facilitates onboarding and training, reviews complex reports, tracks monthly project submissions, and develops project schedules and work orders. Additional duties involve updating BCA training materials, assisting with proposal development, and adapting quickly to new initiatives in a fast‑paced environment. • Conduct building condition assessments and annual inspections. • Generate detailed asset assessment reports using specialized software. • Identify system deficiencies and recommend repair or replacement solutions. • Prepare cost estimates for capital budgeting of building components. • Lead scheduling and coordinate on‑site activities for assessment projects. • Act as a mentor and point of contact for new hires during onboarding. • Review complex assessment reports and provide timely feedback. • Track monthly project submissions and maintain project schedules. • Create work orders and support the issuance of site notifications. • Update and develop training material for building condition assessments. • Assist in the preparation and delivery of project proposals. • Maintain strong client service orientation and internal stakeholder relationships.

What You Bring

Candidates must hold a university degree in architecture, civil, mechanical, electrical engineering, building science, or a related field, and possess 5‑8 years of relevant experience. Professional credentials such as EIT/P.Eng, PMP, or BSS are advantageous. Required knowledge includes ASTM E2018‑24 standards, cost estimating, building science, and specialized discipline expertise, along with strong communication, problem‑solving, detail orientation, and proficiency in MS Office. A valid driver’s license is required, with travel across Canada and the US expected 30‑50% of the time. Bilingualism, LEED, PMP, and BSS certifications are considered assets. The position offers a salary range of $63,397 to $79,246 per annum, determined by the candidate’s competencies and experience. • Travel 30‑50% of the time across Canada and the United States. • Possess a university degree in a relevant engineering or building science field. • Hold 5‑8 years of experience; EIT/P.Eng, PMP, BSS certifications are preferred.
