About the Role
The Project Engineer role oversees and executes project controls and management across multiple disciplines, providing direct support to the Project Manager or Senior Project Engineer. Responsibilities include quantity collection, contract administration, project planning and scheduling, procurement, and reporting, while interfacing with clients, engineering/design teams, subcontractors, distributors, and vendors. • Oversee field office staff including engineers, document control, schedulers, procurement and warehouse personnel. • Serve as primary client contact and represent the company professionally. • Produce required contract reports (weekly, monthly, scheduling) for the client. • Apply corporate and site‑specific safety plans and lead safety meetings and trainings. • Develop quantity calculation formulas and track completed material percentages. • Create and review work plans, work packages and ensure quality plan execution. • Manage daily labor timesheets, compile average labor rates and submit to supervision. • Train staff on Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) and conduct toolbox safety reviews. • Order and schedule material deliveries; maintain procurement status reports. • Plan, schedule and coordinate on‑site work groups and generate master project schedule. • Perform material takeoffs, basic engineering calculations and technical drafting. • Direct field engineers to prepare submittals, RFIs, transmittals and other correspondence. • Generate and review purchase orders, subcontracts and material buy‑out takeoffs. • Supervise subcontractor operations and provide field support. • Maintain project records including reports, photos, RFIs, submittals and memos. • Track productivity metrics such as average labor rate, equipment schedule and risk logs. • Produce change orders, as‑built data and schedule of values for invoicing. • Assist Project Manager with cost forecasting, cash‑flow curves and WIP updates. • Lead budgeting conversion from estimate to standard phase codes and flag cost trends. • Act as company representative in the absence of the Project Manager. • Supervise up to 100 crew members temporarily and lead field engineers.

What You Bring
• Hold a bachelor's degree in engineering or construction management and 5+ years field experience. • Demonstrate knowledge of MasTec safety programs, constructability reviews and cost‑saving alternatives. • Commit to extensive travel and relocation for 6‑12 month project assignments. • Meet physical requirements: lift up to 50 lb, work 12‑hour shifts in varied weather and heights.

Benefits
This position can be based in any U.S. city or state and involves up to 90% travel, with assignments typically lasting 8‑18 months per project. Employees receive a designated per diem, an excellent base salary, mobilization support, a longer weekend every four weeks, and either a company vehicle with a fuel card or a vehicle allowance. Compensation ranges from $130,000 to $180,000 annually, supplemented by performance reviews, merit increases, 401(k) matching, an employee stock purchase plan, and comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage.
