Environmental Project Manager
Manage and deliver environmental projects across UK infrastructure programmes

About the Role
The role offers the chance to lead smaller projects while supporting senior managers on larger programmes, providing exposure, development and room to grow. You may also line‑manage or mentor junior colleagues and help shape the Environmental Project Management Team’s strategic direction. • Support development of project proposals, defining scope, resources, programme and cost estimates. • Produce and maintain project management documentation such as plans, risk registers, schedules, stakeholder registers and organisation charts. • Monitor and control project schedules, staff hours, budgets, forecasts and expenditures. • Ensure health and safety information for site visits is secured and internal approvals obtained. • Manage contracts and contract administration throughout the project lifecycle. • Actively manage project changes and risks, adhering to governance and contractual agreements. • Lead, mentor and develop multidisciplinary environmental project teams and suppliers. • Promote delivery of environmental betterment and net‑zero strategies. • Represent the Environment and Consents discipline to internal WSP teams, clients and external stakeholders.

What You Bring
If you don’t meet every criterion, we encourage you to apply and we will consider how your experience aligns with this role and other opportunities within the team. • Proven experience as an Assistant Project Manager or Project Manager, preferably in environment or sustainability sectors. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to convey key messages clearly. • Working knowledge of programme management, work breakdown structures, dependencies and critical path, with proficiency in MS Project, Primavera P6 or similar tools. • Solid commercial and contractual awareness, financial acumen and analytical thinking; experience delivering projects within budget and managing change control; familiarity with NEC3/4 contracts is an advantage. • Membership of a relevant professional institution (e.g., PMI, APM, MIEnvSc, MIEMA, MRICS) and chartered status or progression towards chartership.
