About the Role

• Operate equipment such as scraper, forklift/telehandler, bobcat/skid. • Follow prescribed safety regulations and maintain clear, orderly housekeeping. • Perform routine maintenance, monitor equipment operation, and detect malfunctions. • Follow work plans and pre‑task cards. • Build relationships with individuals from diverse backgrounds and organizational levels. • Read and interpret safety rules, operating manuals, maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and load charts. • Perform repetitive hand, arm, and leg movements; lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lb (with assistance for heavier loads).

What You Bring

Mortenson is seeking an Operator Apprentice responsible for operating equipment while adhering to all Mortenson safety policies and procedures. The role involves following safety regulations, maintaining clear and orderly housekeeping, performing routine maintenance, monitoring equipment operation, and building relationships across the organization. The position requires equipment certifications, at least one year of related experience, a valid driver’s license with proper classification, strong teamwork and customer service skills, the ability to read and interpret safety and operation manuals, basic mathematical skills, independent work capability, and the physical ability to lift up to 50 lb (with assistance for heavier loads). • Hold required equipment certifications. • Minimum of one year of related experience. • Possess a current driver’s license with appropriate classification and endorsements. • Demonstrate strong teamwork, positive attitude, professional customer service, and attention to detail. • Operate equipment using controls, with knowledge of equipment uses and basic math skills. • Work independently with active listening, effective communication, and openness to feedback.
