HVAC Product Engineer I
Design, develop, and support custom HVAC equipment from concept to field.
Job Highlights
About the Role
HVAC Product Engineers design, develop, and support highly customized HVAC equipment from concept through manufacturing and field support. They collaborate with sales, design, manufacturing, testing, and project teams to translate customer requirements into efficient, high-quality solutions, using thermodynamics, heat transfer, refrigeration, and mechanical design principles along with 3D modeling and analysis tools. The role offers hands‑on work with real equipment, influence over product direction, and visibility of designs through testing to delivery. Engineers are responsible for creating complete product designs, selecting components, and generating 3D models, drawings, BOMs, and prototypes. They research and apply new technologies, update existing designs for cost reduction and efficiency, and work with manufacturing to optimize production. Additional duties include testing and validation, troubleshooting customer issues, supporting factory testing and assembly, providing technical training to sales and marketing, and managing project budgets and timelines. • Design HVAC products, create 3D models, drawings, BOMs, and prototypes. • Select components using software tools and apply new technologies to product lines. • Update existing designs for cost reduction, efficiency improvements, and performance upgrades. • Collaborate with sales, design, manufacturing, and testing teams to align products with customer requirements. • Conduct testing, validation, and data analysis to ensure product reliability. • Troubleshoot customer issues and assist factory personnel with assembly and testing. • Provide technical training and materials for Marketing and Sales departments. • Manage project budgets, timelines, and documentation throughout product development. • Lead HVAC solution design projects and guide testing technicians. • Apply heat‑transfer, thermodynamics, refrigeration, and electromechanical knowledge to product engineering. • Perform CFD, finite‑element, and vapor‑compression cycle simulations and mentor coworkers. • Analyze test data to draw accurate conclusions and optimize system performance. • Utilize Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks, and AutoCAD for detailed design work.

What You Bring
The position requires strong knowledge of heat‑transfer, thermodynamics, and refrigeration cycles, as well as familiarity with electromechanical devices, power electronics, and control systems. Proficiency in CFD, finite‑element analysis, and test‑data analysis is needed, along with the ability to generate creative designs, pay attention to detail, and guide colleagues in simulations and testing. A bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field and at least three years of HVAC experience are required. Candidates should be proficient with 3D modeling software such as Autodesk Inventor or SolidWorks, have solid AutoCAD skills, and be comfortable with Microsoft Office. Strong analytical, design, troubleshooting, project‑management, and communication abilities, as well as the capacity to work independently, are essential. The role demands effective written and verbal communication, sound decision‑making, multitasking, and teamwork in a fast‑paced environment. Physical requirements include lifting up to 50 lb, standing or sitting for most of the shift, and occasional visits to a manufacturing facility with variable temperature, dust, and chemical exposure. • Demonstrate strong analytical, problem‑solving, and project‑management skills. • Meet physical demands: lift up to 50 lb, stand/sit for most of the shift, and work in varied manufacturing environments.
