About the Role

• Conduct investigations and make referrals to the federal energy regulator • Identify market outcomes and market participant behavior that warrants further investigation and analysis • Build data queries and analysis in a programming language • Evaluate current and new market rules changes and recommend enhancements • Present complex and technical content to a diverse audience through written reports and presentations • Identify and source relevant data through research and proactive engagement with colleagues • Scope and perform empirical analysis of market performance, market efficiency and behavior • Design, develop and run screening tools to identify market performance issues, non-compliance with market rules and uncompetitive behavior • Continually track market outcomes, identify and explain trends and outliers • Write clear and insightful content, collaborate with colleagues to make connections between report sections

What You Bring

• Ability to conduct forensic-like investigations of market outcomes and participant behavior • This position is open to qualified candidates at various levels, ranging from Associate to Senior Analyst. The level will be determined based on applicable experience • Master’s degree in economics, business, public policy, or another related field. • Demonstrated ability to work efficiently and collaboratively with others in a team environment • Experience and/or demonstrated interest in wholesale electricity markets and the electric industry • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; Ability to communicate complex findings and ideas in plain language at an executive, board member, or regulator level • Strong quantitative skills with emphasis on analysis using SAS or similar programming language
