About the Role

• Examine plans and specifications for compliance with architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire/life safety, energy conservation (Title 24), green building, accessibility, and egress codes. • Coordinate plan review with public agencies, itemize required corrections, and explain them to permit applicants. • Authorize issuance of building permits for compliant plans and calculate associated fees. • Advise engineers, architects, contractors, builders, and the public on interpretation and application of building regulations, state laws, and local ordinances. • Submit reports to jurisdictional building officials on workload, process statistics, new products, and code interpretation issues. • Assist jurisdictional building officials by answering questions related to plans and permitting requirements.

What You Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering or a related field. • At least three years of experience in architectural or building plan review, or equivalent training and experience. • Hold ICC Plans Examiner Certification (minimum Residential Plan Review Certificate). • Hold ICC Licensed Master Code Professional status with ICC Commercial Plans Reviewer Certification. • Demonstrated knowledge of building codes. • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
