About the Role
Viva Energy Australia is looking for a Legal Counsel to provide expert legal advice and support across a diverse range of transactions and strategic initiatives, primarily supporting the Property Team. The role involves partnering with stakeholders to navigate complex legal matters, shaping commercial outcomes, mitigating risk, and delivering practical solutions aligned with long‑term objectives. Key responsibilities include providing legal advice on commercial property leasing, drafting and reviewing agreements such as MOUs and NDAs, advising on property‑related disputes, and collaborating with internal stakeholders to ensure legal support aligns with business goals. The role also requires delivering strategic legal advice to senior management, staying current on legal developments, supporting compliance, developing policies, and managing relationships with external counsel. • Provide legal advice on commercial property leasing and related matters. • Draft and review commercial agreements, MOUs, and NDAs. • Advise on property‑related disputes and mitigate associated risks. • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to align legal support with business objectives. • Deliver strategic legal counsel to senior management and various departments. • Ensure compliance with applicable laws, develop policies, and manage external counsel relationships.

What You Bring
Candidates must hold a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or equivalent, a current Australian Practising Certificate, and at least five years of post‑qualification experience in property law from private practice or in‑house settings. Experience with competition/consumer law, strong analytical and decision‑making abilities, excellent communication, and stakeholder management skills are essential, along with high integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail. • Hold a Bachelor of Laws and a current Australian Practising Certificate. • Minimum of 5 years post‑qualification experience in property law, either in private practice or in‑house. • Exposure to competition/consumer law and strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills. • Demonstrate integrity, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
