About the Role

• Perform conceptual and detailed HV and MV substation physical/electrical design, including layouts, drawings, and grounding plans. • Conduct engineering studies and calculations. • Carry out quality control reviews on substation physical design projects. • Act as technical lead on projects with limited guidance. • Create and review bill of materials for substation physical projects. • Develop and review proposals and scopes of work for smaller substation projects. • Plan and lead client meetings related to physical design as required. • Support professional development of less experienced engineers through guidance and training recommendations. • Communicate effectively with internal teams and clients to meet project objectives. • Develop leadership skills in preparation for future team roles.

Kimley-Horn's Orlando, Florida (FL) office is seeking a Substation Physical Engineer with 4+ years of experience to join their Power Delivery team. This position is onsite and not remote. • 4+ years of relevant engineering experience in substation physical design. • Professional Engineering (P.E.) license or ability to obtain within 12 months. • Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment on multiple projects. • Proficiency with industry‑standard design software such as AutoCAD. • Experience with grounding studies, lightning protection, and lighting studies. • Experience with bus calculations. • Experience with CDEGS.
