About the Role

The role provides engineering support throughout the development process, from initial viability advice to design development, technical consent and construction. You will assess consultant designs for cost‑effectiveness, legislative compliance and practicality, and advise internal teams and selected contractors. Key duties include commissioning and managing civil and structural consultants, ensuring data readiness for tendering and consents, and liaising with NHBC and statutory bodies to meet pre‑construction standards. You will interpret geo‑technical reports, prepare early site designs, procure utility proposals, and resolve engineering issues within planning applications. Ongoing responsibilities cover foundations, plot drainage, monitoring CML issues during construction, securing technical approvals and attending site and project meetings. • Provide engineering support from viability advice through design development and construction. • Assess and appraise consultant designs for cost‑effectiveness, compliance and practicality. • Commission and manage civil and structural consultants, ensuring data is ready for tendering and technical consents. • Liaise with NHBC and statutory bodies to meet pre‑construction standards and resolve conditional items. • Interpret geo‑technical reports and produce early site designs and constraints plans. • Procure designs and quotations for new utility proposals while ensuring CDM regulation compliance. • Coordinate consultants to resolve planning‑related engineering issues and secure optimal consent. • Oversee foundations and plot drainage design, monitoring and addressing CML issues during construction. • Secure all technical approvals needed for site start and attend relevant meetings and site visits. • Produce technical site appraisals and negotiate successful technical approvals. • Utilize AutoCAD, PDS, Windes, and Microdrainage to deliver civil engineering designs in‑house.

What You Bring

The successful candidate will have extensive engineering experience in housebuilding—roads, sewers, foundations, land drainage and utilities—and hold an engineering degree or equivalent accredited by RICS or ICE. High proficiency in AutoCAD, PDS, Windes and Microdrainage is required, together with the ability to interpret geotechnical and environmental reports, produce technical site appraisals and negotiate approvals under tight deadlines. • Hold an engineering degree or equivalent accredited by RICS or ICE. • Possess extensive housebuilding engineering experience (roads, sewers, foundations, drainage, utilities). • Demonstrate proficiency in interpreting geotechnical and environmental reports and making recommendations. • Exhibit a strong track record of meeting tight deadlines and negotiating technical approvals.
