About the Role
Key responsibilities include drafting consumer‑facing terms and conditions for our energy, net‑zero installation and service brands such as British Gas, Hive and Dyno‑rod, and providing legal advice on regulated energy and financial products. You will support marketing regulatory managers and the governance team with customer communications, assist the commercial team in new product design, and help the B2B Legal Team with partner, I/AR and lending agreements. Collaboration with compliance, other legal colleagues and business stakeholders is essential, as is supporting the customer complaint resolution team and remediation activities. Additional work may involve providing legal support for policy consultations with government and regulators such as FCA, Ofgem and CMA, handling appeals and judicial review claims, and supporting the legal team at our Irish sister company, Bord Gáis Energy, across B2C and B2B matters. This broad exposure adds regulatory, contentious and cross‑border experience to the role. • Draft and maintain consumer‑facing terms & conditions for energy, net‑zero installation and service brands. • Provide legal advice on regulated energy products, Ofgem licence conditions and FCA rules for consumer credit and insurance. • Support marketing regulatory managers and governance with compliant customer communications and advertising. • Assist commercial teams in new product and proposition design and negotiate B2B agreements. • Collaborate with compliance, legal colleagues and stakeholders to resolve customer complaints and remediation. • Advise on policy and regulatory consultations with FCA, Ofgem, CMA and government bodies. • Handle contentious matters such as CMA appeals and judicial review claims.

What You Bring
The ideal candidate is a qualified lawyer with proven experience in regulated and non‑regulated consumer environments, either in‑house or in private practice, especially with FCA‑regulated consumer products. You should have strong drafting and negotiation skills, be highly flexible, inquisitive and able to manage diverse stakeholders in a fast‑paced setting. Pragmatic, creative and collaborative, you must influence effectively, balance commercial and customer outcomes, and make risk‑aware decisions. • Qualified lawyer with experience in regulated consumer environments and FCA‑regulated products. • Strong drafting, negotiation, influencing and stakeholder‑management skills in a fast‑paced setting.
