About the Role
The role involves a broad range of manual activities, including moving and retrieving equipment, digging, and standing by for fire safety. The employee will climb structures and scaffolding, operate fire extinguishers, and use rigging and hoisting devices such as chokers, chain falls, and come‑alongs to position materials. Preventative maintenance tasks like lubrication and repairing worn parts are also performed, all under the direction of a supervisor or journeyman. • Move, dig, and retrieve equipment; standby for fire safety. • Operate fire extinguishers. • Climb structures and scaffolding. • Use rigging and hoisting devices (chokers, chain falls, come‑alongs) to position materials. • Perform preventative maintenance, including lubrication and repairing worn parts. • Follow directions from supervisors or journeymen.

What You Bring
Candidates must be able to meet all physical demands and possess experience with industrial hand and power tools. Reliable transportation and the flexibility to work any day are required. Desired competencies include basic tool knowledge, problem‑solving ability, manual dexterity, reading comprehension, teamwork, effective communication, and a commitment to Zachry’s safety values. Preferred applicants are former Zachry employees with basic mechanical knowledge, industrial construction site experience, and formal technical education. The position requires extensive standing, walking, bending, squatting, sitting, and lifting up to 50 lb, as well as climbing ladders, stairways, and scaffolding with appropriate fall protection. Work must be performed in all weather conditions while wearing required personal protective equipment such as a hard hat, safety glasses, ear plugs, respirator, hi‑vis vest, gloves, and steel‑toed boots. No specific certifications or licenses are mandated. • Meet all physical demands and lift up to 50 lb. • Proficient with hand and power tools; basic mechanical knowledge preferred. • Reliable transportation and availability to work any day; strong teamwork and communication skills.
