About the Role
The Northern California Water Business Development Leader will drive growth for HDR’s water services across the San Joaquin Valley. Reporting to the regional Water Business Group management, the role focuses on identifying and nurturing client relationships, expanding market networks, and positioning the firm for successful project pursuits. Key responsibilities include co‑creating annual growth strategies, building relationships with public and private decision‑makers, collaborating with technical leaders to craft winning proposals, and using data‑driven tools to track progress. The leader will also guide storytelling and marketing efforts, act as a trusted advisor to clients, mentor emerging professionals, and represent HDR at industry events. • Develop and execute annual growth strategies to meet financial targets and expand regional footprint. • Identify, engage, and maintain relationships with key public and private decision‑makers in the San Joaquin Valley. • Partner with technical and market leaders to create winning proposals and capture plans. • Utilize HDR business tools to track progress, analyze market trends, and inform decisions. • Lead pursuit teams, manage business development and marketing budgets, and oversee proposal quality. • Mentor and develop business development staff; identify talent for management, technical, and marketing roles. • Maintain client relationship management systems and act on formal and informal client feedback.

What You Bring
The position requires at least 15 years of A/E/C industry experience, a proven self‑starter mindset, deep knowledge of professional services procurement, strong financial and negotiation skills, and excellent written and verbal communication. A bachelor’s degree and professional or engineering registration are preferred, along with a demonstrated ability to lead high‑value win strategies and grow business in competitive markets. • Prefer candidates with a bachelor's degree and professional/engineering registration or related experience. • Require ≥15 years of A/E/C industry experience, strong network, sales and win‑strategy expertise, financial acumen, excellent communication, MS Office proficiency, and willingness to travel.
