Job Highlights
About the Role
As an OT Cybersecurity and Networking Systems Engineer, you will join the system engineering team delivering substation automation solutions and provide technical guidance on cybersecurity and networking for operational technology control systems. The role covers the entire OT security lifecycle, from concept and design through asset inventory, risk assessment, testing, commissioning and audit documentation, following Hitachi Energy and customer policies. The engineer will ensure all documentation satisfies audit and compliance requirements such as NERC CIP, ISA/IEC 62443 and ISO 27001, and will contribute to process improvements and the development of cybersecurity policies based on industry standards. • Coordinate the cybersecurity discipline and support project execution across several concurrent substation automation projects. • Provide technical assistance during testing, installation and commissioning of OT systems, ensuring proper documentation for audits. • Develop and maintain cyber asset inventories and conduct risk assessments aligned with ISA/IEC 62443 and ISO 27001. • Design, configure, and verify IEC 61850 station and process‑bus solutions, including network and security architecture. • Perform factory and site acceptance testing, commissioning, and produce audit‑ready documentation per Hitachi Energy and customer policies. • Apply engineering analysis to diagnose application‑related issues in substation automation solutions. • Translate customer cybersecurity and networking requirements into technical specifications and optimized system designs. • Ensure compliance with NERC CIP, ISA/IEC 62443, IEEE/IEC cybersecurity standards and utility policies. • Lead the creation and maintenance of cybersecurity policies and procedures, incorporating industry best practices. • Represent Hitachi Energy at industry conferences and standardization activities as a subject‑matter expert. • Collect essential cybersecurity information, assess implementation against policies, and support audit preparation. • Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams (protection, communications, project management) to integrate security into overall system designs.
