About the Role
The Officer – Fire & Safety at Cushman & Wakefield is tasked with safeguarding the premises by ensuring all fire safety requirements are consistently met and by overseeing the overall safety program across the property. Key duties include supervising fire‑safety maintenance, performing daily inspections to identify and remove hazards, preparing and updating the Fire Emergency Plan, and conducting two annual fire drills as directed by the Property Manager. The role also involves training the Property Management team and residents in firefighting and evacuation procedures, coordinating resident participation during emergencies, operating the Fire Command Centre, and promptly notifying the Property Manager of any fire incident. Operational responsibilities cover managing vendor access, enforcing safety protocols during equipment work, maintaining preventive maintenance schedules, securing consumables and spares, ensuring compliance documents and contact details are up‑to‑date, and handling additional tasks as required by the Property Manager. The officer maintains an annual activity calendar, works within assigned budgets while identifying cost‑saving opportunities, develops SOPs, motivates staff through training and recognition programs, monitors CCTV, manages visitor parking and footfall data, and oversees attendance registers and the Boom Barrier project. Equipment oversight includes keeping firefighting gear and surrounding areas clean, conducting checklist inspections, ensuring water pressure and the proper functioning of hydrant and sprinkler systems, maintaining daily logs, and guaranteeing the safety of both equipment and personnel. • Ensure continuous compliance with fire safety requirements outlined in the Fire Emergency Plan. • Supervise maintenance and repairs of all fire safety installations. • Conduct daily site checks and eliminate identified fire hazards. • Prepare and update the Fire Emergency Plan and conduct two annual fire drills. • Keep escape routes unobstructed, clearly marked, and properly illuminated. • Train property‑management staff and residents on firefighting and evacuation procedures. • Coordinate resident involvement in fire response and evacuation drills. • Oversee operation of the Fire Command Centre during emergencies. • Notify the Property Manager immediately after any fire incident. • Manage vendor access to ensure security protocols are followed during maintenance activities. • Enforce safety procedures for equipment handling and preventive maintenance tasks. • Track and requisition consumables and spare parts in a timely manner. • Maintain up‑to‑date compliance documentation and emergency contact information on site. • Develop and maintain an annual calendar of safety activities and ensure timely execution. • Operate within allocated budgets and identify 2‑3% cost‑saving opportunities. • Create and update standard operating procedures for fire and safety functions. • Monitor CCTV systems, brief security personnel on duties, and review footage regularly. • Manage daily visitor parking, footfall data, and staff attendance registers. • Oversee the Boom Barrier project and ensure proper functionality. • Maintain cleanliness of firefighting equipment and surrounding areas. • Perform regular checklist inspections of fire pumps, hose boxes, extinguishers, hydrant, and sprinkler systems. • Ensure water pressure meets required standards in fire pump rooms and common areas. • Keep detailed daily logs and maintenance records for all fire safety equipment.
