About the Role
• Design industrial building automation controls projects to meet scope of work and budget, ensuring equipment compatibility. • Provide AutoCAD/Visio design labor and direction to complete submittals and engineered documents accurately and professionally. • Develop comprehensive BAS submittal packages, including detailed riser diagrams, network architecture, and point‑to‑point wiring schematics for HVAC and electrical systems. • Interpret project documents, estimates, and other information to select proper equipment for the required scope of work. • Complete Sequences of Operations (SOO) and verify that written SOOs meet system requirements. • Produce a Bill of Material for each design project. • Maintain clear documentation of design systems, wiring diagrams, and software configurations. • Design large projects using standard tools, products, and practices with limited deviation. • Develop system designs for BAS, including load calculations, equipment selection, and integration of various control systems. • Assist the sales team during estimation/bid phase by providing design support. • Collaborate with project managers to generate Requests for Information (RFIs) to clarify design issues and recommend solutions. • Identify discrepancies in plans and specifications and draft RFIs for clarification. • Independently complete all specific design responsibilities with minimal supervision. • Accurately forecast labor required to design a complete project and track it to meet budget and forecast goals. • Provide support for ongoing service engineering and existing building systems. • Recommend new products that improve functionality and value for projects and clients. • Develop and maintain a library of engineering standards for Bosch Building Technologies and the industry. • Facilitate coordination with external customers and vendors to ensure accurate and timely engineering. • Assist in managing project timeline, budget, and coordination. • Support Bosch Building Technologies and other contractors in solving building operating issues beyond control operation.

What You Bring
The organization defines three job levels: Level 1 works under timely supervision to meet objectives; Level 2 consistently achieves all objectives and mentors Level 1 staff; Senior level brings extensive experience in controls programming, system integration, and advanced HVAC strategies, often leading complex tasks and providing mentorship. • Apply advanced knowledge of BACnet MSTP/IP, Modbus TCP/RTU, and LonWorks protocol integration. • Use engineering design software or drafting tools such as AutoCAD and Microsoft Visio CDT proficiently. • Apply strong knowledge of HVAC systems, including unitary equipment, larger systems, hydronic systems, chiller plants, cooling towers, and boiler plants. • Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, or related technical field (or 8+ years building automation experience in lieu of degree). • 4+ years experience in building automation systems controls or management systems. • 4+ years experience producing BAS submittals on any BAS platform. • 4+ years experience with AutoCAD and/or Visio. • 2+ years experience designing and engineering HVAC control systems, including sequence of operations and equipment selection. • 2+ years experience generating and managing RFIs to resolve design issues. • Proficiency reading and creating layout drawings to guide system installation (e.g., sensor locations, panel placement). • Experience interacting with external stakeholders such as consulting engineers, contractors, and building owners. • Experience developing Bills of Material (BOM). • Mastery of M&E plan interpretation. • Master’s degree in electrical, mechanical, or related technical field (or 12+ years building automation experience in lieu of degree). • 7+ years experience in building automation with strong understanding of HVAC controls for commercial or industrial facilities. • 7+ years experience assisting in project estimation, budgeting, and scheduling for BAS components. • 2+ years experience programming within Tridium/Niagara framework, Spyder tool, EIKON, EC‑gfxProgram, and/or Controller Configuration Tool. • Experience proposing cost‑effective technical solutions. • Experience maintaining or contributing to internal standards, libraries, or best practices for system design and engineering. • Background in both design and ongoing support/service engineering for installed building systems. • Must be physically able to kneel, stoop, and crawl. • Must be able to lift and carry drawings, computers, material, and sit for extended periods. • Must be able to lift up to 30 lb. • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods. • Must be able to climb flights of stairs throughout a typical day. • Must maintain a satisfactory driving record per Climatec vehicle policy.
