About the Role
The role prepares the site for daily work and performs housekeeping and duties necessary for daily activities. • Operate jackhammers and drills to break up concrete or pavement • Position, join, align and seal structural components such as concrete wall sections and pipes • Shovel cement and other materials into portable mixers, then mix, pour, and spread concrete • Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery and materials • Tend machines that pump concrete, grout, and sand • Tend pumps, compressors, and generators to power tools, machinery, equipment, or to heat and move materials such as asphalt • Lubricate, clean, and repair machinery, equipment, and tools • Operate, read, and maintain air monitoring and other sampling devices in confined or hazardous environments • Assist in building and positioning forms for pouring concrete and dismantle forms after use using saws, hammers, nails, or bolts • Clean and prepare construction sites to eliminate hazards while following waste handling guidelines • Control traffic passing near, in, and around work zones • Dig ditches or trenches, backfill excavations, and compact and level earth to grade specifications using picks, shovels, pneumatic tampers, and rakes • Erect and disassemble scaffolding, shoring, braces, traffic barricades, ramps, and other temporary structures • Load, unload, and identify building materials, machinery, and tools, then distribute them to appropriate locations per project plans and specifications • Act as a watch when welding or metal cutting is performed by craft workers • Read and interpret plans, instructions, and specifications to determine work activities • Expedite materials and equipment to work locations and set up work sites • Complete records, maintain tools and equipment, and perform various janitorial activities • Observe and comply with all safety and project rules, including wearing required personal protective equipment • Plan work and select proper tools • Compare and see differences in size, shape, and form of lines, figures, and objects • Visualize objects in three dimensions from plans and drawings • Make decisions based on measurable criteria

What You Bring
The position typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent and prior experience in the field. Employees are expected to follow instructions and guidelines, work under immediate supervision, and report to a manager. The job involves frequent standing, walking, and occasional sitting, as well as frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of loads up to 50 lb. Workers must frequently climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, handle, and finger objects, with varying degrees of frequency. • Smooth and finish freshly poured cement or concrete using floats, trowels, screeds, or powered finishing tools
