About the Role

The Transportation Data Scientist will support traffic engineering projects, conduct data analysis, develop dashboards and reports, collaborate with staff in work sessions, and coordinate workloads to ensure tasks are completed on schedule and within budget, while also handling additional duties as needed. • Assist on traffic engineering projects and exercise sound engineering judgment. • Perform data analysis and write SQL queries for data aggregation and visualization. • Develop dashboards summarizing a variety of data. • Create report documents detailing analysis methodology and outcomes. • Participate in work sessions with other staff members. • Coordinate workload throughout project development to ensure tasks are completed on schedule and within budget.

What You Bring

Preferred qualifications include experience with cloud‑based analytics platforms such as Google BigQuery, AWS, or Azure/Databricks; proficiency in Python and Pandas; expertise in Tableau or Power BI; strong SQL query and database development skills; a process‑oriented mindset; Microsoft Office proficiency; and excellent oral, written, and presentation communication abilities within a team environment. Required qualifications are a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Management Information Systems, a minimum of five years of systems analysis, applications development, and support experience with business applications, and a demonstrated commitment to actively participating in HDR’s employee‑owned culture. • Experience with cloud‑based data analytics platforms (Google BigQuery, AWS, Azure/Databricks). • Ability to summarize findings from analytical processes. • Python and Pandas scripting skills. • Tableau or Power BI expertise. • SQL query writing and database development proficiency. • Process‑oriented mindset. • Proficiency with Microsoft Office. • Strong oral and written communication, presentation skills, and teamwork ability. • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Management Information Systems. • At least five years of systems analysis, applications development, and support experience with business applications.
