About the Role

The Senior Mechanical Engineer role supports AECOM's multi‑disciplinary design team on power generation projects, including traditional steam, thermal, and advanced nuclear technologies, with the flexibility to work remotely or from energy offices nationwide. • Lead mechanical engineering design on assigned power generation projects. • Produce deliverables such as equipment layouts, P&IDs, isometrics, and orthographic drawings. • Coordinate with piping design team and multi‑discipline groups. • Conduct risk assessments, due diligence studies, and present technical solutions. • Develop construction specifications, material requisitions, and support construction, start‑up, and commissioning phases. • Perform quality‑control reviews of team deliverables. • Participate in client and project meetings and liaise with vendors, regulators, and contractors. • Prepare internal and external presentations. • Travel occasionally to client or project sites as needed.

What You Bring

• Minimum: Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering with 6+ years of relevant experience and background in power generation facilities. • Preferred: Master’s degree, Professional Engineer (PE) license, 12+ years in power generation, 5+ years as lead mechanical engineer, experience with combined‑cycle and nuclear plants, and expertise in industry codes (API, ASME, etc.). • Proficient with Thermoflow, Hysys, Caesar II, AspenTech, BIM 360, Navisworks, and familiar with metallurgy, equipment specification, and startup/commissioning.

Benefits

The position is based in New Orleans, LA, operates under a hybrid work model, and offers a yearly salary range of $135,000 to $165,000. Relocation assistance and sponsorship for US employment authorization are not available.
