About the Role
The technician will apply the latest scientific knowledge to solve theoretical and practical problems in trauma, hemorrhage and resuscitation, immunomodulation, directed‑energy health effects, and craniofacial health. Responsibilities include recommending protocol and SOP changes, organizing animal research activities, setting up and calibrating equipment, maintaining in‑vitro and 3‑D tissue models, conducting surgical procedures, and collecting and securely recording experimental data. The role also involves assisting with preparation of presentations and scientific manuscripts, managing animal procurement and shipping, coordinating work among research scientists, animal‑care staff, and lab technicians, and ordering and maintaining research supplies and inventory. • Support laboratory research on trauma, hemorrhage, resuscitation, immunomodulation, directed‑energy effects, and craniofacial health. • Recommend and implement changes to research protocols and standard operating procedures. • Organize and coordinate animal research activities, including procurement, shipping, housing, and health surveillance. • Set up, operate, and calibrate laboratory equipment in line with experimental protocols. • Maintain in‑vitro models, including complex 3‑D tissue cultures, bacterial and fungal cultures. • Conduct and assist with surgical procedures and operating‑room maintenance. • Collect, analyze, and securely record experimental data using scientific or statistical methods. • Prepare presentations and draft scientific manuscripts for publication. • Order, track, and manage inventory of research supplies.

Parsons is seeking a Research Technician III to support the Naval Medical Research Unit – San Antonio (NAMRU‑SA) and its partners in laboratory‑based research. The mission of NAMRU‑SA is to improve survival, operational readiness, and safety of Department of Defense personnel engaged in routine and expeditionary operations. Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree with at least five years of relevant research experience, or a master’s degree with two years, and demonstrate the ability to revise protocols, coordinate animal work, operate laboratory equipment, support surgeries, and produce high‑quality written material. Strong data‑management skills, including secure record‑keeping in a laboratory notebook, are required, and no security clearance is needed. • Hold a bachelor’s degree with five years (or master’s with two years) of relevant research experience. • Demonstrate proficiency in protocol revision, animal research coordination, equipment operation, and surgical support. • Possess strong scientific writing and editing skills; no security clearance required.
