About the Role

The Senior Nuclear Operator (SNO) at Fitzpatrick Nuclear Station in Oswego, NY, is the senior represented operator on shift and is responsible for directing and coordinating all lower‑grade operators working on the Nuclear Steam Supply System, turbine‑generator, auxiliary equipment, and the 345 kV and 115 kV switchyards. The SNO ensures proper plant operation during startup, shutdown, refueling, emergencies and normal conditions, and may assume Nuclear Control Operator duties when circumstances require. • Direct and coordinate lower‑grade Nuclear Operators during startup, shutdown, refueling, emergencies and normal operations. • Ensure plant equipment operates within Technical Specifications, Operating Procedures and related guidelines. • Assume Nuclear Control Operator duties when required, including core alterations and fuel movement. • Lead training and development of other employees.

What You Bring

In addition to operational leadership, the SNO maintains an active interest in plant performance, stays current with technological advances, and supports the training of fellow employees. The role requires qualification as a Radiation Protection Self‑Monitor, possession of an NRC Reactor Operator’s License, and the ability to direct and mentor other staff. • Qualify as a Radiation Protection Self‑Monitor and hold an NRC Reactor Operator’s License. • Maintain at least two years of thermal power plant operating experience, with a minimum of one year as a Nuclear Control Operator or equivalent.
