About the Role

• Prepare vacant apartments for occupancy (painting, drywall repair, trash removal, mechanical, plumbing, electrical work) • Perform basic system repairs on electrical, plumbing, hot water heaters, HVAC, and appliances • Execute detailed carpentry, drywall, interior/exterior painting, selecting proper paint sheen and color • Repair plank, vinyl, and carpet flooring • Respond to resident service requests daily with moderate supervision • Conduct preventative maintenance tasks as assigned • Clean pools, monitor chemical balance, and maintain required logs • Perform daily grounds maintenance (trash removal, pet waste management, walkway sweeping) • Assist with property improvement and scheduled preventive maintenance projects • Use personal vehicle to travel between assigned properties during work hours • Participate in on‑call rotation as scheduled • Complete tasks safely and efficiently in a fast‑paced environment • Maintain punctual attendance, dress code/uniform, and professional appearance

What You Bring

The Community Maintenance Technician 1 is a multi‑faceted maintenance professional responsible for preparing vacant apartments for occupancy and delivering timely, quality service to residents and the community. Success in this role requires effective time management, attention to detail, trustworthiness, teamwork, pride in workmanship, and strong customer‑service skills when interacting with residents, associates, and vendors. The technician must use a Weidner‑issued cell phone and designated apps, travel between properties with a personal vehicle during work hours, and participate in the scheduled on‑call rotation. Adherence to Weidner’s mission, vision, values, policies, and all applicable fair housing and legal regulations is expected. • Minimum 1 year of maintenance experience; painting and drywall preferred • Strong mechanical aptitude and knowledge of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, pool, irrigation, and HVAC systems • Ability to lift 80 lb, climb ladders and stairs, and push/pull up to 200 lb with an appliance dolly • Capacity to work outdoors in all weather conditions and stand for an entire shift • EPA certification desired • Communicate professionally in person, phone, email, and text • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) preferred • Willingness to learn Yardi, Paycom, and other software programs • Work effectively in a team or independently and flexible to work beyond scheduled hours • Valid driver’s license, reliable personal vehicle, and insurance meeting local requirements • Pass criminal background check and agree to voluntary drug testing • Ability to be assigned to other Weidner properties as needed
