About the Role

The Plant Specialist position joins Ameresco’s Landfill Gas‑to‑Energy Plant Operations team at the Jefferson City, Missouri site. This role focuses on the daily operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of reciprocating engines that convert landfill gas into usable energy. Key duties include performing equipment inspections, diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, and control‑system issues, and coordinating maintenance activities with subcontractors. The specialist must ensure compliance with plant specifications, hazardous‑material handling, and safety standards while being available for after‑hour and weekend call‑outs as needed. • Operate and maintain reciprocating engines and related landfill‑gas equipment. • Perform inspections, troubleshoot faults, and repair mechanical, electrical, and control systems. • Schedule and oversee subcontractor service, inspections, and maintenance tasks. • Ensure adherence to plant specifications, hazardous‑material, and safety regulations. • Provide after‑hours and weekend call‑out support for plant upsets.

What You Bring

Candidates must hold a GED or high‑school diploma and possess at least five years of experience operating and maintaining mechanical, electrical, or instrumentation equipment. A valid driver’s license, proficiency with hand and power tools, and knowledge of industrial safety practices are required; experience with Jenbacher, Caterpillar, or Waukesha natural‑gas engines, as well as PLC and electrical power systems, is preferred. • Minimum GED/High School Diploma and at least five years of equipment operations/maintenance experience. • Valid state driver’s license in good standing. • Experience with blowers, boilers, and hand/power tools; familiarity with Jenbacher, Caterpillar or Waukesha gas engines preferred. • Knowledge of PLCs, electrical power equipment, and gas‑plant operations advantageous. • Ability to lift 50 lb and transport equipment/tools over 300 lb. • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and basic computer tasks. • Strong verbal, written, and organizational communication skills. • Willingness to work overtime, on‑call, and flexible schedules.
