About the Role
The Senior Safety Engineer will develop and administer site-specific safety plans, oversee safety orientations and training, and provide coaching to engineers. Responsibilities include collecting and analyzing loss-control data, leading incident investigations, managing injury cases, and reviewing safety submittals with subcontractors. The role also involves mentoring safety engineers, offering technical assistance, and evaluating industrial hygiene concerns while ensuring compliance with OSHA, ANSI, and other regulations. • Implement and oversee Mortenson’s Zero Injury Safety program across multiple sites. • Develop, administer, and monitor site-specific safety plans. • Conduct safety orientations, train-the-trainer sessions, and coach engineers. • Collect and analyze loss-control data, injury trends, and support improvement actions. • Lead incident reporting, investigations, and injury case management, including return-to-work programs. • Review safety submittals, attend pre-construction meetings, and monitor subcontractor work plans for safety concerns. • Mentor and coach safety engineers, providing technical assistance and development opportunities. • Evaluate industrial hygiene concerns and ensure compliance with OSHA, ANSI, and other applicable standards.

What You Bring
Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in Safety, Occupational Health, or a related field, or possess a high school diploma combined with CHST, OSHA 500 certification and at least ten years of construction experience, including six in a dedicated safety role. A minimum of five years of construction safety experience, strong attention to detail, and proficiency with Microsoft Office and safety software are required. Effective communication, coaching, and the ability to travel up to 100% with a valid driver’s license are also essential. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship. Base salary for this role ranges from $103,033 to $129,313, with higher ranges for offices in Denver, Chicago, Seattle, Portland, and Washington, D.C.
