About the Role
Reporting to the Installation/Operations Manager or Project Manager, the Project Manager – Fire Install will be responsible for the profitable execution of assigned small‑dollar fire installation projects. The role requires coordinating sales support, providing input on strategy and vendor selection, and directing engineers, designers, technicians, estimators, and subcontractors to ensure projects are accurate, on‑time, billed, and within budget and scope. The manager will develop detailed project execution plans—including work breakdown structures, safety plans, schedules, and risk logs—and will manage scope, costs, resources, and risks to meet timeline and budget targets. Responsibilities include preparing cost estimates, negotiating change orders, handling accounts payable, billing, and collections, and ensuring all work complies with contractual terms, safety standards, and legal requirements. Additional duties involve overseeing material procurement, subcontractor performance, and on‑site construction compliance with specifications and codes, as well as maintaining strong relationships with customers, consultants, and prime contractors. The manager will communicate progress, issues, and financial status to senior management, resolve disputes, and facilitate installation‑to‑service turnover at project completion. • Execute small‑dollar fire installation projects profitably, on time, within budget and scope. • Lead multidisciplinary teams including engineers, designers, technicians, estimators, and subcontractors. • Ensure compliance with state, local, federal regulations and Johnson Controls safety (Zero Harm) standards. • Develop and maintain project execution plans, schedules, risk logs, and safety plans. • Prepare cost estimates, negotiate change orders, and manage billing to sustain positive cash flow. • Oversee material procurement, subcontractor selection, and on‑site construction to meet specifications and codes. • Communicate project status, issues, and financial performance to management and stakeholders. • Resolve disputes, manage risks, and implement recovery plans as needed. • Build long‑term relationships with customers, consultants, prime contractors, and subcontractors. • Travel as required based on project assignments.

What You Bring
Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in construction, engineering, construction management, or architecture (associate degree with five years relevant field experience is acceptable). Required experience includes a minimum of five years in building construction, strong verbal and non‑verbal communication skills, and proficiency with project management software (MS Project, MS Office, Adobe Writer, Visio) and financial accounting systems; PMP certification is preferred. Travel may be required based on project needs. • Require bachelor’s degree (preferred) or associate degree with 5+ years field experience in building construction. • Strong verbal and non‑verbal communication of technical material to technical and non‑technical audiences. • Proficient in MS Project, MS Office, Adobe Writer, Visio; PMP certification preferred.
