About the Role

The Materials Planner is responsible for planning, procuring, and expediting all materials while identifying and implementing resolutions for material issues and shortages within the plant. This role collaborates with buyers, stagers, steel clerks, assembly technicians, production teams, and suppliers to ensure the effective operation of the Kanban and AML systems, and supports the implementation of Lean Manufacturing techniques throughout the plant and division. Key duties include purchasing Kanban and AML material via MRP using MAPICS and AS400, interpreting data to make informed purchasing decisions, expediting materials with suppliers to meet customer needs, and maintaining system integrity. The planner also reviews the MCC schedule, updates production meetings, manages supplier promise dates, and proactively addresses potential material shortages using MATSYNC. Additionally, the planner follows the escalation process, serves as a backup for other planners, and may work overtime across multiple shifts. • Purchase Kanban and AML material via MRP using MAPICS and AS400. • Interpret data to make optimal purchasing and planning decisions. • Expedite materials with suppliers through email, Vista, and phone to meet customer dates. • Maintain system integrity and accurate supplier promise dates in MAPICS. • Review MCC schedule and provide updates during production meetings. • Proactively manage potential material shortages via MATSYNC alerts. • Follow buyer and supervisor escalation processes for unresolved issues. • Serve as backup planner for other team members.

What You Bring

A high school diploma or GED is required, and candidates must reside within a 50‑mile radius of Fayetteville, NC, unless they are active‑duty military members. Prior experience as a material planner, supply chain analyst, or in order expediting is preferred. Required skills include strong computer proficiency (Microsoft Office, Outlook, Vista), broad knowledge of manufacturing operations and control systems, understanding of basic electrical controls and Just‑In‑Time inventory techniques, and working knowledge of MAPICS, inventory transactions, and Kanban systems. • Hold a high school diploma or GED; reside within 50 miles of Fayetteville, NC (military exemption applies). • Prior experience as a Material Planner, Supply Chain Analyst, or Order Expediting required. • Strong computer skills with Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Vista. • Broad knowledge of manufacturing operations and formal control systems. • Understanding of basic electrical controls and Just‑In‑Time inventory techniques. • Working knowledge of MAPICS, inventory transactions, and Kanban systems. • Effective communication with departments, customers, suppliers, and transportation providers. • Willingness to work overtime and flexible hours across multiple shifts. • Strong math, organizational, time‑management, and problem‑solving abilities.
