AI and Data Engineer

About the Role

The role involves designing, testing and optimizing prompts for Hitachi’s Generative AI Platform, enabling high‑quality, contextual content across diverse applications. The engineer will collaborate with data scientists, machine learning engineers and product managers to integrate prompt engineering capabilities into the platform. • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to define use cases for the Generative AI Platform. • Develop and refine prompts to produce accurate, coherent, and tone‑appropriate content. • Test and evaluate prompts, iterating for performance, safety and ethical compliance. • Maintain a reusable prompt library and documentation. • Build tools and frameworks for prompt engineering, including templates, scoring metrics and automated generation. • Integrate prompt engineering features into the platform for scalability and seamless user experience. • Provide training and support to platform users on effective prompt design. • Work on cutting‑edge Generative AI technology and diverse use cases.

What You Bring

Candidates should hold a master’s degree in computer science, linguistics or a related field (PhD preferred) and have extensive experience in natural language processing, text generation and prompt engineering. Proficiency in Python, Jupyter Notebooks and Markdown, strong analytical skills and an understanding of AI ethics are required. • Research capabilities and limitations of leading Generative AI models (e.g., Perplexity, ChatGPT, Azure AI, NVIDIA). • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Linguistics or related field; PhD preferred. • Extensive experience in NLP, text generation and prompt engineering. • Proficiency in Python, Jupyter Notebooks and Markdown with clean coding practices. • Strong analytical, problem‑solving and creative thinking abilities. • Excellent communication and teamwork skills. • Familiarity with Generative AI models such as Perplexity, Azure GPT and NVIDIA. • Understanding of AI ethics, bias, fairness and safety. • Experience deploying AI applications in production (plus).
