About the Role
The technician will respond to corrective maintenance work orders and unplanned fire‑system faults within the contract‑specified response times. They will conduct root‑cause analysis, diagnose issues using manuals and asset histories, and carry out repairs or component replacements. When necessary, they will implement temporary safety measures, escalate major repairs, and verify and test all work to ensure compliance with standards and Defence policies. What You Bring
We are inviting applications for a permanent Fire Systems Technician position at RAAF Townsville, commencing February 2026. The role is open to candidates from any background, whether they have Defence experience, industry knowledge, or transferable skills. Candidates must hold a Certificate III in Fire Systems Testing and Inspection, a Fire Protection Accreditation (FPAA) or a QBCC Fire Protection Licence (QLD), and be able to obtain and maintain a Defence Security Clearance, which requires Australian citizenship. Relevant post‑trade experience in fire‑systems fault diagnosis, corrective maintenance, and meeting reactive work‑order response times is essential. A strong work ethic, positive attitude, and commitment to high‑quality outcomes are also required. • Hold a Certificate III in Fire Systems Testing and Inspection and a Fire Protection Accreditation (FPAA) or QBCC Fire Protection Licence (QLD). • Obtain and maintain a Defence Security Clearance (Australian citizenship required). • Demonstrated experience in fire‑system fault diagnosis, corrective maintenance, and meeting reactive work‑order response times.
