About the Role

Join a fast‑growing construction organization where your purchasing expertise directly powers field success. As a Purchasing Agent for Mechanical, Electrical & Welding Tools you will source, standardize, and manage the tools and consumables that keep seven business units running efficiently. You will partner with fabrication, electrical, safety, and operations teams to ensure safe, high‑quality execution on real jobsites. The Purchasing Agent role is responsible for evaluating competitive vendor pricing, service, and product availability to procure materials and equipment for projects and shop operations. The position requires ethical, value‑conscious purchasing that ensures consistency, cost control, and availability across the organization while collaborating with operations, fabrication, electrical, safety, and tool management teams. • Execute end‑to‑end purchasing from requisition through PO issuance to meet project schedules. • Source materials, equipment, and services while ensuring compliance with approved vendors and agreements. • Obtain competitive bids and negotiate pricing, lead times, rebates, and terms for optimal value. • Align purchases with specifications, budgets, schedules, and job cost codes. • Coordinate deliveries to job sites, shops, yards, and track back‑orders, expediting critical items as needed. • Optimize inventory by leveraging existing yard stock and minimizing long‑term holdings. • Analyze pricing, usage, and trends to support cost control and informed sourcing decisions. • Maintain accurate purchase order, vendor, and item master data in company systems. • Support accounts payable by validating PO‑to‑invoice matches and resolving discrepancies. • Communicate proactively to mitigate supply chain risks, shortages, or delivery issues. • Managed tooling across multiple departments or business units. • Handled welding consumables such as wire, rod, gas, PPE, and accessories. • Maintained and consolidated part numbers and vendor catalogs.

What You Bring

• Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and welding tools and consumables. • Experience procuring hand, power, electrical, and welding tools along with related consumables. • Familiar with industrial suppliers like Grainger, Milwaukee, Greenlee, and welding/electrical distributors. • Ability to read and interpret specifications, drawings, and equipment requirements. • Excellent organizational, follow‑up, and communication skills. • Advanced Excel proficiency (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, formulas). • Experience with purchasing or ERP systems (Vista Viewpoint, IFS preferred). • Access to RK University, accredited apprenticeships, and leadership development programs. • Strong safety culture emphasized daily across all operations.
