About the Role
The Surveyor provides surveying service to company supervisors and craftsmen to ensure construction work complies with design drawing locations, providing work control lines and elevations for accurate measurement and correct material installation (e.g., concrete forms). The role must recognize quality issues beyond locations and elevations, may act as supervision, and intervene in safety or quality issues as needed. The Surveyor must learn all safety hazards, safely use related tools and equipment, and may work in plant operations or construction jobsite settings. Key responsibilities include researching prior survey evidence, producing topographic and cross‑section surveys, developing data from photogrammetry, maintaining accurate records, preparing field documentation, ensuring equipment condition, checking as‑built conditions, revising engineering drawings, establishing survey control, and coordinating with engineering, architectural, and construction personnel. • Research previous survey evidence, maps, deeds, physical evidence, and other records to obtain data needed for surveys • Provide topographic and cross-section surveys required for planning and payment quantities, and provide quantity calculations as required • Develop new data from photogrammetric records • Keep accurate notes, records, and sketches to describe and certify work performed • Prepare documentation (field books and diaries) of surveying activities • Maintain condition and adjustment of surveying equipment • Check as-built conditions that require use of surveying techniques • Prepare or revise engineering drawings as directed • Determine methods and procedures for establishing or reestablishing survey control • Coordinate findings with work of engineering and architectural personnel, clients, and others concerned with the project • Coordinate surveying activities with superintendent to meet construction requirements

Physical requirements include occasional lifting of up to 25 lb, regular talking and hearing, frequent walking, sitting, reaching, and repetitive hand/arm use, as well as occasional standing, stooping, kneeling, and vision demands (close, distance, focus).
