About the Role

• Lead hydrology and hydraulic design for transportation projects across Illinois and the Midwest. • Perform drainage design, hydraulic modeling, inlet spacing, pipe sizing, culvert analysis, bridge scour, and erosion control. • Prepare technical reports, plans, special provisions, and permitting documentation. • Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams and stakeholders.

What You Bring

The selected engineer will join a team of highly qualified engineers and technicians, contributing across all project phases—from concept through preliminary and final design. A solid understanding of IDOT and local agency drainage policies is essential, as is practical experience with industry‑standard drainage software. Key responsibilities include drainage design for hydraulic modeling, inlet spacing, pipe sizing, culvert analysis, bridge scour, erosion and sediment control, plan preparation, special provisions, estimating, permitting, and report preparation. Minimum qualifications are a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, at least four years of drainage and site civil experience, and proficiency in HEC‑RAS, HEC‑HMS, HY8, XPSWMM, and GEOPAK Drainage. Preferred credentials include an Illinois Professional Engineer license, Certified Floodplain Manager status, and experience with CADD tools such as MicroStation, Civil3D, or InRoads.
