About the Role
The Principal Data Governance Consultant will join the Asset, Data and Information (ADI) team to build and scale data governance services for clients in sectors such as water, buildings, rail, aviation or defence. The role involves shaping data strategy, providing evidence‑based advice on master data and data quality, and adapting governance approaches to diverse organisational contexts. It also includes leading projects, expanding the team’s capability and identifying growth opportunities. • Build data governance services to improve client data quality and reliability. • Road‑map overall data strategy and support delivery of governance practices. • Advise on master data, data quality and organisational systems for best‑practice governance. • Adapt governance advice across sectors such as water, buildings, rail, aviation and defence. • Scale data strategy capability and create growth opportunities with clients and colleagues. • Lead data governance projects from short‑term strategy to enterprise‑wide improvements. • Act as trusted advisor and enhance the firm’s data governance reputation. • Identify data governance opportunities for infrastructure clients and steer service development. • Expand internal and client networks to generate new project business. • Support bidding, scoping and selection of suitable data governance projects. • Manage professional development to maintain relevant tools, approaches and skills. • Contribute to team growth through recruitment, innovation, events and peer support. • Deliver diverse data governance change projects with proven strategic approaches. • Communicate effectively with clients, presenting results and aligning projects to organisational vision. • Use enterprise data‑governance toolsets, particularly Microsoft Azure or Fabric. • Apply a creative approach to scoping projects and recognising value‑adding data initiatives. • Provide a health cash plan covering everyday health costs. • Supply free menopause support via Peppy. • Deliver a comprehensive wellbeing programme for employees and families. • Provide employee saving schemes and retailer discounts. • Provide annual professional institution subscription and mentoring for skill development. • Support employee networks for LGBTQ+, gender, race, disability and parents/carers. • Enable staff to contribute to community social outcomes. • Enable hybrid working to support wellbeing, flexibility and trust. • Provide accessibility support for disabled candidates via [email protected].

What You Bring
• Hold Certified Data Management Professional (DMBOK) qualification with extensive governance experience. • Understand regulatory impacts on data governance in heavily regulated environments. • Demonstrate strong project, programme and people management capabilities. • Possess sector experience in transportation, energy, water, defence, buildings, environment or technology. • Bring consultancy skills such as client engagement, bid writing and business development. • Have technical data skills like PowerBI (optional). • Do not sponsor Skilled Worker visas; consider candidates eligible for other UK immigration routes.
