About the Role

• Coordinate on‑site electrical work, including underground cabling, overhead lines, and substation construction • Review drawings, submittals, and specifications for quality and compliance • Develop and maintain project schedules and 3‑week look‑aheads • Supervise quality control for self‑performed and subcontracted work • Monitor subcontractor performance, safety, and resource planning • Lead installation and termination of fiber‑optic cables • Enforce Mortenson’s Zero Injury Program and project quality standards • Coach and mentor field personnel and assist with hiring decisions

What You Bring

Mortenson is seeking a Senior Electrical Superintendent I for its Solar Operating Group to provide overall electrical expertise and supervision from planning through closeout. The role oversees electrical subcontractors, ensures quality installations, and supports site management to deliver safe, efficient, high‑quality projects. Candidates must have at least 12 years of electrical experience, 13 years of leadership experience, actual commissioning experience, and be willing to travel and reside in California for a minimum of two years with regular rotations. The position does not offer visa sponsorship and requires candidates to be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship. Travel up to 100 % may be required. • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent • 12 + years experience with high and medium voltage equipment, transmission/collection lines, and substation construction • 13 + years supervisory experience • Current driver’s license • Working knowledge of NESC, NEC, IEEE, NEMA, OSHA codes and industry safety methods • Understand wind‑turbine construction to ensure proper code compliance • Basic understanding of construction law and business practices • Proficient in installation, testing, acceptance, maintenance, and repair of high and medium voltage cables • Familiar with cable testing methods such as current injection, Hi‑pot, capacitance discharge, contact resistance, Megger, TTR, and Doble • Knowledge of electrical drawings, underground duct banks, trenching, manholes, vaults, transformer usage, SCADA systems, and transmission line construction and commissioning • Active listening and effective communication with openness to diverse input • Ability to travel up to 100 % • Knowledge of EEO, inclusive behaviors, and affirmative‑action plans

Benefits

Base pay ranges from $164,300 to $246,500, with higher ranges for select office locations, and the role is eligible for Mortenson’s incentive plan.
