What You Bring

Eligibility requires applicants to be of Mi’kmaw heritage or connected to one of the 13 Mi’kmaw communities in Nova Scotia, and to be permanent residents of the province. Applicants must provide a Status Card or a Letter of Support from community leadership, and past recipients may re‑apply each year for up to four years while enrolled in a college or undergraduate program. Selection is based on financial need, demonstrated leadership, community service, involvement in extracurricular activities, responses to structured questions, and academic standing. A selection committee of Nova Scotia Power employees reviews applications and may invite candidates for an interview. To apply, candidates must complete the online application and upload a resume, high‑school or university transcript, structured question responses, a budget template, and the required supporting document. All mandatory materials must be submitted by March 28, 2026. Benefits

The Mi’kmaw Bursary Program provides four non‑renewable $2,500 awards to Mi’kmaq students entering any year of a full‑time post‑secondary education program, with preference for fields such as Power Engineering, Power Line Technician, Instrumentation Tech, Engineering, Technology, Business, Marketing & Communications, Environmental Sciences, or Law.
