CDL Truck Driver Commercial
Operate waste trucks to collect, transport, and dispose/recycle materials safely.
Job Highlights
About the Role
Drivers operate heavy‑duty trucks equipped with front, side, or rear‑end load lifts, transporting waste or recyclables to disposal, transfer, or recycling facilities once legal load capacity is reached. Commercial drivers handle containers that may exceed 1,000 lb and perform pick‑up services in high‑traffic areas, while residential drivers collect household waste and navigate residential streets. Roll‑off drivers load and haul large open‑top or compactor containers, often working in tight industrial environments. All driving duties must comply with WM Safety and Life Critical Rules, OSHA, DOT, and applicable local, state, and federal regulations. Drivers conduct pre‑ and post‑trip vehicle inspections, report unsafe conditions or service issues, attend required trainings, and work with Operations Managers to improve route efficiency. They also communicate customer requests, ensure clean dump sites, complete route assignments, and finish end‑of‑day documentation. • Operate vehicles per WM Safety, OSHA, DOT, and all applicable laws • Perform pre‑ and post‑trip DVIR inspections and document checks • Report unsafe conditions, incidents, accidents, or service interruptions to Operations Manager or Dispatch • Attend required training, briefings, and meetings • Collaborate with Operations Manager to improve route efficiency and best practices • Communicate customer requests and ensure clean dump sites • Complete assigned routes, end‑of‑day paperwork, and assist fellow drivers as needed

What You Bring
Candidates must have at least one year of experience operating a CDL‑class A or B vehicle (or equivalent military driving) within the past seven years, be 18 years or older, legally authorized to work, and hold an air‑brake endorsement. A high school diploma or GED is preferred. The role involves physical tasks such as standing, walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, crouching, reaching, and handling, with an hourly rate starting at $34.75, adjusted for experience and location. • Required: Minimum 1 year CDL‑class A or B driving experience (or equivalent military) within past 7 years; age 18+; legal work eligibility; air‑brake endorsement • Preferred: High school diploma or GED • Equal employment opportunity in the U.S. and Canada; accommodations available; Real ID may be required
